6 things to help husband be an active father

Image
Motherhood is a beautiful journey but it's not an easy one. Some of us our lucky to have husband's and family's support to ease parenting. Earlier times, people lived in joint families and there were many helping hands in raising a child, thus a father's role in parenthood was never emphasized. But now as times have changed and most of us have moved from joint family to nuclear family, father's input as an active parent had become important. Where many mothers complaint about father's being inactive and less participative in parenthood, is it really their mistake ? If feel NO. I don't support inactive fatherhood but at the same time would not want to blame them completely for their behaviour. Some of the major reason father's are still inactive are : - Most of the fathers have seen their own father's rare participation in their upbringing and they feel it's normal for a mother to raise a child single handedly. - It's we as mother&

I want to raise a son, because I want happy daughters

Image
All eyebrows will be raised if I say, I want a baby boy and not a baby girl. For the fact, I always wanted a baby girl, I have a beautiful 16 months old daughter, and in the process of raising her, I badly want to raise a boy. But what actually made me feel this?? Being in 2020, I thought there would be no difference between raising a boy or a girl. And I never did that for my daughter. But to my surprise, people around me were much bothered about how I raise my DAUGHTER and not my child. Something which I usually heard being said to my daughter was : Girls don't play like this, they don't keep jumping around all time, girls don't roam around without a nappy, girls don't shout, etc. These were just some of the talks which my 16 month daugher was told, who didn't even knew the difference between a boy and a girl. And I realised that nothing was said intentionally but something that is being heard and said since generations . But I am sure I don't want

Why should I pretend to like everyone around ?

Image
Do all of us like everyone whom we meet in our life ? I am sure we don't, but most of us pretend to like whoever we meet. We are taught from childhood days that we should talk nicely to everyone, everyone around is a good human being, we should not be rude to anyone, etc. I respect all those childhood values but that doesn't mean I should like everyone.  I was never a pretend kind of a person during my teens nor am I now even after being 30. Since the time I was mature enough to understand, I was clear about the set of people whom I liked and the other ones who didn't matter much to me. The biggest problem here was, even if I wanted to pretend a fake smile the opposite person could easily know about it. So pretending was never a option for me. The process was never that easy. I was judged as arrogant, rude, having attitude, thinking about myself as I am someone great, not friendly, etc. These were the adjective which have been mentioned to me by those people who

Fears!!! Until I first saw YOU

Image
Your were an unexpected happiness which was coming our way, but very less did I know that I would develop more fears than the happiness you were going to give me. We had just returned from our Ladhak trip. My periods were delayed but I didnt give much importance to it. I was 10 days up, and just to make sure I am NOT PREGNANT, I took the test and then came the most unexpected result " I Was Pregnant'. My husband and I both couldn't believe and took the test 3 times to make sure the results was correct . But with this unknow and unexpected Pregnancy, I was gripped with a lot of fears. The biggest fear that I woke up every morning to was , 'Will I be able to carry the child for 9 months, or I might have a miscarriage ?' Somehow the fear of miscarriage dint let me enjoy my initial phase of Pregnancy. To add to my fear, I started spotting at the start of 3rd month and it lasted for 20 days. But with God's grace I was still Pregnant. Knowing that by

How to ensure your Kid learns what you Teach

Image
A mother is child's first teacher. Whatever a baby learns, good or bad is always linked to mother's teaching. Being a mother, I know that feeling of onus to teach your child and making sure that he or she doesn't display any unaccepted behaviour before outsiders. But being a mother, I also know for the fact that no mother inculcates any bad habit to her baby, every mother wants the best for her baby. Then why is this gap between what we want to teach and what a baby learns? Is mother not a good teacher or baby not a good learner ? Let's find out. There are different aspects which affects the entire teaching and learning process, due to which a child is not able to graps what a mother teaches. ( All the examples given are tried and tested examples of my 16 month daughter ) 1. Method of teaching Every child has a unique method of learning. Some like to just listen and learn, while some like to touch and feel things, some like to just observe and some would like

Pink or blue, boy or girl : Who is responsible?

Image
Though we are in 2020, there are so many families, infact even the going to be father or mother who desire to only have Baby Boy. I know it sounds unreal but it's a sad truth.  But what's are reason? Why does a family wants to have a boy but not a girl? Specifically talking about India, there are numerous unreasonable reasons behind this thinking. Family Heritage A boy will take forward the family heritage, but a girl will get married any follow someone else's heritage. Dowry When the boy gets married, the grooms family receives dowry I e many valuable gift and money, which needs to be given by the girls family i.e bride family. So it's beleived that a boy will get money and a daughter will take away all the money. Though dowry is illegal is India it's atill practiced but only the term is used is " gifts out of love and affection". Legacy A boy will take care of the family business and follow the family legacy and a girl is considered incompete

I forgot being a wife while becoming a mother and how did I regained it

Image
Motherhood is one of the most embraced period of a women's life. A women's maximum attention is on her baby since the time it's as small as a mustard seed in her womb. This is motherhood, loving the life which is still unseen and unknown. As the days pass the attachment, the bond just grows stronger.  Once a baby is delivered, the actual motherhood starts and a mother's life just roams arround the little bundle of joy. Feeding, changing nappies, massages, bath times, making the baby sleep and so on, and with hardly any time left she makes sure to make food for the family, clean the house,  dusting, laundry and the list goes on. But in all this, a wife is lost . In the initial months after the baby, one surely doesn't realise this but it surely hits every marriage at some point  It did hit me also. My daughter was 14 months, till then everything was going good. My husband was a sweetheart to adjust to all my moods and helped me how much ever h

Product Review : Shape Sorted and Stacker

Image
Wooden toys are one of the safest option for kids of any age. What better way of introducing shapes to your little one along with stacking, sorting and colors. Product : Wooden Shape Stacker and Sorter ( Available on Amazon.in) Age Group : 15 months + Review : - This is super light weight and has multiple colors. So you can teach shape, counting and colors all in one toy. - This helps to develop concentration and patience in kids. - It promotes creativity and can be used as building blocks as well. - Kids learn to stack in one to five stands, this increasing hand eye coordination immensely. There are many other stacking as well as shape sorter available in different brands. But I prefer this as it can be used in multiple ways.

Why your Baby is not eating food?

Image
Most of the babies are introduced to solids on completion of 6 months of age. Some babies respond to it positively and accept whatever is offered to them , while some babies take time to get used to the new change. Infact, most of the babies and toddlers go through this phase when they don't eat as per parents expectations. There could be multiple reasons for this depending upon the age of the baby or toddler. So here is a list of reasons along with possible solution. 1. Not ready for solids yet All babies are not necessarily ready for introduction to solids on completion of 6 months. Forcing them might not help. But at the same time, it's necessary to start some solids for babies post 6 months as breast milk might not be able to meet there required energy and nutrition requirment. Solution : Try introducing stage 1 solids in liquid consistency same as that of breast milk. This might help the baby develop a liking for new taste keeping the consistency constant. As

Accepting a Child for who they are

Image
We all love our children, irrespective of how good or bad they are. But do we accept them in complete, or we try to mould their habits or traits to which we can't relate. For example if a child doesn't want to swim, how many of us would accept the child's decision and not force them to learn to swim. Not even 1% of us. Our love doesn't reduces for them, but our acceptance of them as a individual personality surely does reduces. This blog will focus mainly on : What is acceptance Stages of acceptance Importance of acceptance What is acceptance? Acceptance of a child means, accepting all the traits, habits, likes, dislikes in them, irrespective you think they are correct or wrong. Accepting them in complete, with their different personality is important. Stages of acceptance? Basically accepting anything which is not liked by us doesn't happen overnight. We go through a 5 stage process to accept anything in life. To understand the process let's continu
